The gum wood in this board spent its first life as a set of TV trays. It has seen things — mostly reruns.

JJ planed those old trays back to bright, honeyed life and joined them with walnut, maple, and two clean lines of purpleheart — a wood that is exactly the color its name promises. Better than ten hours of work went into the reconciliation of old stock and new intent, down to the wide chamfered edges cut deep enough to serve as finger holds.

Finished in JMMS Mountain Butter and food-safe mineral oil, it is ready for the knife, the table, and its considerably improved second act.
