A pen for the first quiet minutes of the morning, when the cup is full and the day hasn't started asking questions yet.

Whole roasted coffee beans hang suspended in deep, dark resin, each one caught mid-pour where the light can find it. A cap of black walnut brings the wood back into the story. Laura cast the blank herself — beans and all — then turned it on her lathe and polished the resin to glass. Hold it close: a faint scent of roasted coffee still rises from the beans.

The color will not fade and the beans will not age: the one cup that never goes cold.
