Zebrawood carries the barrel in bold, grass-colored bands; the curly maple cap ripples like wind moving through them. The figure in the maple is in the wood, not on it — tilt the pen and it moves. Laura turned both woods and brought them up with friction polish and wax.
The stripes will not fade and the shimmer will not settle. The wind is implied.
